Recently, Santa Rosa was named the microbrew capital of the US, and Sonoma County received a perfect score on the American Lung Association’s latest air quality report card for California. Upon learning about these reports, local resident Max Wilmarth felt inspired to put pen to paper, and he sent us this poem about the recent rankings.:
Best Boast of the West Coast –
Santa Rosa, Sonoma County
by Max Wilmarth
Portland’s population may be hippest in the nation;
San Jose has a million millionaires,
The beautiful people of LA have lovely DNA,
while Seattle’s Sound will make you stop and stare.
Our sand and tans and Legos can’t compare to San Diego’s,
and San Francisco’s burly bears outnumber Guerneville’s (by a hair).
But as for good air and breweries, we best the West Coast with ease,
since the beer that’s chiefly chosen is always Santa Rosan,
and Sonoma air is the fairest of all counties.
