book-mockupIn “Aikido: An Everyday Approach to the Martial Art that can Transform Your Life & the World,” Sonoma County author Paul Frederick Rest shares about everyday living. While the book is titled, “Aikido,” it’s more about the mindset behind the martial art. Rest does this by offering 16 easy to understand exercises that most anyone can do.

Rest is definitely a valuable source of information on Aikido. He has taught this martial art for 16 years, and has studied it for over 20 years. He is also the published author of over 300 articles, essays and book reviews about Aikido.

“Aikido” is divided into three sections. The first section is on mind, body and spirit, and explores the essential parts of character. The second section encourages awareness of physical movements we make take for granted (like breathing, walking, etc.), and how to be more intentional in these actions. The third section describes what it’s like to take an Aikido class.

This book is available at Many Rivers Tea & Books in Sebastopol, and Copperfield’s in Sebastopol and Montgomery Village. It is also available online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
