In his debut novel, “The Vault Apocalyptia,” Santa Rosa author Gary Brandt presents a satire of the atomic age with Brandt’s take on America’s race to build the bomb. Set in New Mexico, the dark comedic novel imagines a tour through Albuquerque’s National Museum of Nuclear Science and History on the day of the apocalypse, with different exhibits that make up the book’s chapters.

Brandt has been a resident of Sonoma County for years, graduating from Montgomery High School and working as a bookseller at Copperfield’s for a time. He is now the copy editor and a layout artist at the North Bay Bohemian, where he’s worked for the past 15 years.

“The Vault Apocalyptia” is available locally at Copperfield’s in Montgomery Village and Petaluma, and at Levin & Company in Healdsburg. It is also available as an eBook at Amazon.
